12Field - Animation Showcase

I created this piece with 12Field Animation to showcase a broader style of animation the studio is capable of. I was given the freedom to create something in my own style so there’s a lot of anime influence in here as I’ve been drawn more and more to Japanese styles of animation.

Over the years I’ve been itching to animate in a style that leans towards anime more and more. This was my first attempt, and it was a lot of fun.

Battle choreography is something I’ve not done much of before so I wanted to experiment with characters that visually show as warrior types, but clearly coming from different backgrounds. Basically I wanted an excuse to make them do cool things in battle, so a martial artist vs a cyborg felt like a good fit.

Animating on three’s, planning out backgrounds, editing the sound and incorporating the camera in unique ways were all fun things I hadn’t tampered with much before, so overall this whole piece has been a fun experiment and I’m hoping a step into creating more of this type of animation.
